Such a very apposite post. As one of my colleagues is fond of reminding me – our goal is not to ‘do’ technology ‘for’ our users but to enable the users (staff/students/learners of any type) to ‘do’ technology for themselves.
What if they say they simply dont have the time/inclination/ability to learn these new skills and think that technologists are employed to do the ‘techie stuff’ for them?
The cascading or snowball effect is what we are after here – empower an enthusiastic group of early adopters and let them cascade the skills down to other groups who will do the same and so on and so on….
How long does this take? Can we afford to wait that long?
